Portion of Route 1009 Old Furnace Road/Fombell Road to Close Tuesday in Beaver County

Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing roadway improvement work requiring the closure of a portion of Old Furnace Road/Fombell Road (Route 1009) in Franklin Township, Beaver County will begin Tuesday, August 19 weather permitting.

Old Furnace Road/Fombell Road will close to traffic at approximately 7:00 AM Tuesday continuously through 6:00 AM Saturday, August 23 to allow roadway reconstruction work to occur at the intersection of Old Furnace Road/Fombell Road and Hartzell School Road. Local access will be maintained. All other traffic will be detoured via Route 288, Route 588, and Hartzell School Road.

The prime contractor is Lindy Paving on this $2.11 million group paving project. Improvement work includes milling and paving, drainage upgrades, base repair, pavement marking installation, and other various construction related activities.
