I-79 Daily Shoulder Restrictions Begin Tuesday in Allegheny County

Route 60 Moon Run/Crafton (Exit 60 A/B) interchange shoulder restrictions to occur

Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing shoulder restrictions on Interstate 79 and associated Route 60 ramps in Robinson and Kennedy townships, Allegheny County will begin Tuesday, December 2 weather permitting.

Shoulder restrictions will occur, as needed, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM weekdays through Friday, December 12 to allow crews to conduct shoulder backup and grading work in the following locations:

  • Both directions of I-79 between the I-376 (Exit 59 A/B) and the Crafton/Moon Run (Exit 60) interchanges
  • I-79 interchange on and off-ramps at the Route 60 Moon Run/Crafton (Exit 60 A/B) interchange

Work on this $14.97 million highway restoration project in Robinson and Kennedy townships began in April 2024. The project begins at the I-376 Airport/Pittsburgh (Exit 59 A/B) interchange and continues approximately one-half mile north of the Route 60 Moon Run/Crafton (Exit 60 A/B) interchange. Work included bridge preservation work on six structures and signs, culvert repair work, as well as concrete pavement patching, guide rail and cable barrier replacement, highway lighting and signing updates, drainage work, pavement markings and other miscellaneous construction activities on mainline I-79 including ten ramps.

The prime contractor is Golden Triangle Construction Company, Inc.
