UPDATE 11:04 - I-79 Northbound and Southbound Closure Limits Changed in Butler County

Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing the closure limits for the I-79 northbound and southbound lanes have changed. The roadway will remain closed until the scene is cleared.

The closure limits are northbound:  Exit 78:PA 228 Cranberry/Mars to Exit 88: US19/PA 68 Zelienople.  Southbound limits are Exit 88: US19/PA 68 Zelienople to Exit 78: US19/PA 228 and Exit 77: Turnpike.

Due to winter weather, a speed limit restriction is in place on I-79 northbound and southbound between PA 5 in Erie and the length of I-79 in Butler. The speed limit has been reduced to 45mph with Commercial Vehicles Right Lane Only. Drivers should use caution in the area.
