Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting drivers to night paving on Franklin Road (Route 3021) and the partial closure of Mars Road (T-722) for reconstruction both as part of the Franklin Road Corridor Safety Improvement Project in Cranberry Township, Butler County.
Night work is scheduled June 7 through 14, 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM on Franklin Road for paving the utility relocation trenches. Work is weather permitting.
June 17 at 9:00 AM through July 6 at 3:00 PM, Mars Road (T-722) will be closed between Jessica Drive and Franklin Road. Work on Mars Road includes full reconstruction with new drainage and pavement.
To detour from Mars Road at the Franklin Road intersection, turn right onto Franklin Road, turn right onto Route 228, turn right on Cranberry Springs Drive and right back on to Mars Road. If travelling from Mars Road on the Cranberry Springs Drive side, reverse the directions.
There will be significant impacts to traffic throughout this project, including traffic shifts, lane restrictions and road closures/detours. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible and to monitor GPS systems or 511PA for traffic delays. Additional information will be shared prior to future traffic impacts such as detour routes, changes in work times, and additional lane restrictions.
The Franklin Road Corridor Safety Improvement Project includes shoulder widening, installation of edge-line rumble strips, and sight distance improvements along Franklin Road. Contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College, PA will be completing this four-year $19.1 million project estimated to be completed in early November 2027.
