Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing the immediate closure of New Castle Street (Route 108) in Slippery Rock Borough due to an oversized load crash near Mulberry Lane in Slippery Rock Borough, Butler County.
Effective immediately and for the duration of today, New Castle Street (Route 108) is closed between the intersections of I-79, Centerville Pike/South Main Street/Grove City Road (Route 173) and North Main Street/Mercer Road (Route 258). Utility crews will be resetting a pole and multiple utility lines.
To detour from the north of Slippery Rock, motorists should use North Main Street/Mercer Road (Route 258) north to Route 208. Turn left to travel west to I-79 South interchange. Travel south on I-79 to Exit 105: Slippery Rock - Route 108. Motorists to the south of Slippery Rock will reverse the directions and take Exit 113: Grove City - Route 208/258. Message boards are active on I-79 announcing the closure. Detour signs will be posted.
