Interstate 90 Eastbound Reopen in Erie County

Speed Limit, Vehicle Restrictions Remain in Place

All lanes of Interstate 90 eastbound in Erie County have reopened to traffic after a disabled tractor trailer was cleared from the highway.

PennDOT is urging motorists to avoid unnecessary travel, but those who must head out will see speeds remain temporarily reduced to 45 mph on the following highways:

  • Interstate 79 from Exit 147 A/B (Route 6/19/322, Meadville) to the end of I-79.
  • Interstate 86 from the I-90 interchange to the New York state line.
  • I-90 from the Ohio state line to the New York state line.

Vehicle restrictions, in accordance with Tier 1 of the commonwealth’s weather event vehicle restriction plan, remain in effect on I-86 and I-90.

Under Tier 1 restrictions, the following vehicles are not permitted on affected roadways:

  • Tractors without trailers.
  • Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded enclosed trailers, open trailers or tank trailers.
  • Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded tandem trailers.
  • Enclosed unloaded or lightly loaded cargo delivery trucks/box trucks that meet the definition of a CMV.
  • Passenger vehicles (cars, SUV’s, pickup trucks, etc.) towing trailers.
  • Recreational vehicles/motorhomes.
  • School buses, commercial buses and motor coaches.
  • Motorcycles.

On roadways with speed restrictions, commercial vehicles not affected by restrictions on these or other roadways must move to the right lane.
