    Route 1005 Highland Avenue/Mill Street Signal Upgrade Work Begins Wednesday in New Castle

    Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing traffic signal upgrade work on Highland Avenue/Mill Street (Route 1005) in the City of New Castle, Lawrence County will begin Wednesday, September 9 weather permitting.

    There will be short-term restrictions each weekday, as needed, through late November according to the following schedule:

    • Shoulder closures will occur from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
    • Short-term single-lane restrictions will occur from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

    The following intersections will be impacted throughout the duration of the project for traffic signal upgrade work:

    • Highland Avenue (Route 1005) and Park Avenue
    • Highland Avenue (Route 1005) and Wallace Avenue
    • North Mill Street (Route 1005) and Falls Street
    • North Mill Street (Route 1005) and North Street

    Please use caution if traveling on this roadway. Work zone safety is everyone’s responsibility.
