Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advising drivers to use caution if traveling in Allegheny, Beaver, and Lawrence counties due to reports of flooding, debris covered roads, and downed trees. Crews are out assessing damages and performing clean-up operations.
Please stay alert and drive cautiously – safety is everyone’s responsibility. PennDOT reminds drivers to:
- Reduce speed and remain alert for debris on the roadway.
- Avoid driving through areas where trees, limbs, or wires are down.
- Allow extra time for travel.
- Never approach or drive over downed utility lines.
- Do not drive across roads covered with water because even shallow, swiftly flowing water can wash a car from a roadway. Also, the roadbed may not be intact under the water.
- Never drive around barricades or signs on closed roads – Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
