    Paving Project to Start Next Month on Route 257 in Cranberry Township, Venango County

    A $2.2 million resurfacing project that will give motorists a smoother ride on more than 1.7 miles of Route 257 in Cranberry Township, Venango County is scheduled to start March 2, 2026.

    Work will be done on Route 257 from the intersection with Route 62 just outside of Oil City to the intersection with Main Street in Seneca, Cranberry Township. The project includes tree trimming, drainage upgrades, guide rail updates, and paving.

    Construction is expected to begin March 2, 2026, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by July 2026.

    No detours are expected in connection with the project. Drivers should be alert for traffic pattern shifts, lane restrictions, and traffic controlled by flaggers, as well as anticipate travel delays during active work hours.

    The contractor is IA Construction of Franklin, PA. The contract cost is $2,248,777.77, which is to be paid 100% with federal funds.

    PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
