Project Overview
County: Montgomery
Municipality: West Norriton Township
State Route(s): 3009
Local Name(s): Main Street
Project Type: Safety Improvements
Last Updated: October 2025
The proposed project is located in West Norriton Township, Montgomery County. The project will implement a 4-lane partial “road diet” configuration along Main Street between Egypt Road and Forest Avenue/West Airy Street.
The existing four-lane undivided roadway will maintain two through lanes in the westbound direction, one lane eastbound, and a shared left-turn lane throughout the project limits, with dedicated turn lanes at the signalized intersections.
The proposed improvements include a mill and overlay of the existing pavement and re-striping for the proposed partial road diet lane configurations along approximately 5,300 feet of roadway. The existing traffic signals at Schuylkill Avenue, Whitehall Road, and Forrest Avenue/West Airy Street will be modified as necessary.
The ADA and pedestrian facilities along the corridor will be evaluated and updated as necessary to meet current ADA standards. Temporary and permanent right-of-way acquisitions will be required in the areas of the existing traffic signals.
