Preparation Work for Bridge Replacement to Begin Next Week on Route 87 in Sullivan County

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that preparation work for a bridge replacement project on Route 87 will begin next week in Sullivan County.

On Monday, March 3, 2025, the contractor, John Nastase, will begin construction preparation activities along Route 87 from approximately 0.1 mile south of Ogdonia Road (Route 3005) in Hillsgrove Township, Sullivan County to approximately 5.6 miles north of Dunwoody Road (Route 1007) in Plunketts Creek Township, Lycoming County.

Preparation work on the project includes, tree removal, clearing and grubbing, and placement of rock construction entrances. Work is expected to take three to four weeks with minimal impact to the traveling public. When necessary, flaggers will be utilized with single lane conditions.

Motorists should drive with caution in the area.

Bridge replacement for the bridge that carries Route 87 over Ogdonia Creek in Hillsgrove Township will take place in the summer of 2026.

John Nastase Construction is the prime contractor for this $2,227,777 bridge replacement project. Work is expected to be completed in fall of 2026, weather permitting.
