PennDOT’s Westmoreland County Maintenance Update

Week of August 17,  2026      

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of Aug 17. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.

Drivers can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Base repair:

  • Route 136 in West Newton Borough
  • Route 1025 (Pizza Barn Road) in Derry Township
  • Route 30 (Between Margurite Road and Sand Hill Road) in Unity Township

Cleaning ditch channels:

  • Route 2033 (Bethel Church Road) in Unity Township

Inlet adjustment:

  • Route 819 (Diamond Street) in Mt Pleasant Township

Pipe repair/replacement:

  • Route 3073 (Buttermore Road) in East Huntingdon Township
  • Route 2021 (Mt. Pleasant/Kecksburg Road) in Mt Pleasant Township

Patching:

  • Various routes in Upper Burrell and Washington townships
  • Various routes in Westmoreland County
  • Route 30 in North Huntingdon Township
  • Route 2035 (Solomon Temple Road) in Unity Township

Parallel ditching:

  • Route 819 (Diamond Street) in Hempfield Township
  • Route 3089 (Buttermore Avenue) in East Huntingdon Township
  • Route 819 (Mt. Pleasant/Scottdale Road) in East Huntingdon Township
  • Route 3021 (Salem Church Road) in Rostraver Township

Surface treatment:

  • Route 3016 (Herminie Road) in Sewickley Township
  • Route 3018 (Sewickley Road) in Hempfield Township
  • Route 3097 (Baltzer Meyer Pike Road) in Hempfield Township

Roadway repair:

  • Route 4002 (North Greengate Road) in Hempfield Township

Underdrain repair:

  • Route 819 (Porter Avenue) in East Huntingdon Township

Crews will pick litter, replace downed signs, and update existing signs, as well as address work orders on various state routes throughout the county. 

PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.
