Route 832 Improvement Project Restarted Today

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today the restart of work to improve Route 832 in Millcreek Township, Erie County.

A substantial portion of the $6.3 million project was completed in 2025, including paving and updated drainage along 1.3 miles of Route 832 (Peninsula Drive) from Route 5 (12th Street) to the entrance to Presque Isle State Park.

Work during the 2026 construction season includes updated ADA-compliant curb ramps, line and marker painting from Route 20 (26th Street) to the park entrance, traffic signal upgrades at the intersections of Route 832 and Sixth Street, Eighth Street, and 23rd Street.

Construction also includes refacing the retaining walls and placing permanent speed tables (speed bumps) near the entrance to Sara’s Restaurant.

Drivers may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers and should anticipate travel delays during active work hours.

The contractor is Lindy Paving, Inc. of New Galilee, PA. The contract cost is $6,362,805.45, which is to be paid with 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds.

PennDOT urges drivers to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
