The scope of work includes reconstructing the following intersections as modern roundabouts:
- The unsignalized intersection of Chichester Avenue, the I-95 Southbound On-Ramp, and Pleasant Avenue.
- The unsignalized intersection of Chichester Avenue, the I-95 Northbound Off-Ramp, the I-95 Northbound On-Ramp, and Johnson Ave.
The proposed scope of work on Chichester Avenue, extending from Scott Avenue to Taylor Avenue, includes:
- Full-depth reconstruction of the existing intersections, including the construction of two roundabouts on Chichester Avenue.
- Full-depth reconstruction is proposed to extend from 115 ft to 300 ft for all side streets at the existing intersections.
- Horizontal and vertical geometry adjustments for Chichester Avenue and side street approaches to minimize right-of-way impacts and ensure efficient designs for the modern roundabouts.
- Residential driveway adjustments at Chichester Avenue and the I-95 Southbound On-Ramp.
- Relocation of the SEPTA 199 bus shelter at Chichester Avenue and Johnson Avenue.
- Reconstruction of existing sidewalks along Chichester Avenue.
- Construction of new crosswalks and replacement of existing crosswalks along Chichester Avenue.
- Signing and pavement marking upgrades.
- Construction of ADA curb ramps.
- Construction of roundabout lighting.
- Drainage improvements and utility relocations.
- Replacement of the guide rail.
- Stormwater management facilities are placed in the southwest corner of both roundabouts.
It is anticipated that the project will be built using staged construction. Access to residences will be maintained throughout construction.
