District 9 - Cambria County

Lengthy Delays on U.S. 22 (Admiral Peary Highway) in Jackson Township, Cambria County, on May 7 for Traffic Signal Installation

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is informing drivers of the potential for lengthy delays on U.S. 22 (Admiral Peary Highway) at the Route 3045 (Chickaree Hill) intersection in Jackson Township, Cambria County, for traffic signal installation on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

On May 7, drivers can expect lengthy delays up to 15 minutes at the U.S. 22 (Admiral Peary Highway) intersection with Route 3045 (Chickaree Hill Road) and T-428 (Mile Hill Road) in Jackson Township, Cambria County, for the installation of new traffic signal equipment.

The intersection improvements are for anticipated traffic-volume increases due to high occupancy at the Jackson Township Business Park. After the May 7 installation, the intersection signal will continue to operate like the current signal – with flash mode, side street stop-control and truck crossing flashing warning devises – until the side street traffic volumes warrant a standard stop-and-go (red, yellow, green) operation.

Plum Contracting, Inc., Greensburg, Pa., is the lead contractor for the $1,098,582 project, which includes improved access to Route 3045 (Chickaree Hill Road) and signal improvements at the intersection of U.S. 22, Route 3045 and T-428 (Mile Hill Road) to support upcoming business park developments.

As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Drivers should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.
