Short Delays on Route 4009 (William Penn Road) in Bedford and East St. Clair Townships, Bedford County, for Resurfacing Project

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is informing drivers of the potential for short delays on Route 4009 (William Penn Road) in Bedford and East St. Clair townships, Beford County, as work begins on a road resurfacing project.

From Monday, June 22, to Friday, July 3, 2026, drivers can expect short delays of three (3) to five (5) minutes and lane restrictions under daylight flagging operations as contractors conduct drainage improvements along Route 4009 (William Penn Road) from Route 56 (Quaker Valley Road) to Route 869 (Brumbaugh Road).

New Enterprise Stone & Lime, New Enterprise, Pa., is the lead contractor for the 3.9-mile, $999,111.11 road resurfacing project, which is expected to be completed in August 2026.

As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage.
