    Weekend Detour Planned for Pipe Replacement on Route 233 in Southwest Madison Township, Perry County

    Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that weekend pipe replacement work starting Friday, June 12, will close a section of Route 233 in Southwest Madison Township, Perry County.

    The road will be closed from 6:00 PM Friday, June 12, through 6:00 AM Monday, June 15. A detour will be in place using Route 944 (Enola Road), Route 74 (Waggoners Gap Road), Bridgeport Road (Route 3017), and Route 233.

    There will be eight more weekend closures/detours for cross pipe replacements. Updated press releases will be issued prior to each closure.

    This work is part of a pavement preservation project that extends 5.9 miles from the Cumberland County line to Landisburg Borough. Work includes roadway resurfacing, guiderail updates, drainage improvements, and other miscellaneous construction on Route 233 in Southwest Madison and Tyrone townships. Work on this project began in April.

    Glenn O. Hawbaker., Inc. of State College, PA, is the contractor on this $4,998,000 project. All work is expected to be completed by May 19, 2027.
