Lane Restriction This Week on Route 34, Market Street Bridge over Juniata River in Newport Borough, Perry County

Bridge inspection planned; flaggers to provide traffic control

Harrisburg, PA The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that an inspection is scheduled this week on the Route 34 bridge spanning the Juniata River in Newport Borough, Perry County. A single-lane restriction will be in place during daylight hours.

Weather permitting, the bridge will be inspected from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM Tuesday, April 14, and Wednesday, April 15. Traffic on the bridge will be reduced to a single lane with flaggers providing traffic control.

Inspectors plan to inspect the bridge using a bucket van from the roadway.

Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to use caution when driving through work zones for their safety, as well as for the safety of the road crews.
