    Bridge Inspections Scheduled on the George C. Platt Memorial Bridge and Other State Highways in Philadelphia

    King of Prussia PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge inspections are scheduled on the George C. Platt Memorial bridge and several other state highways in Philadelphia.

    Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

    • Monday, May 6, through Thursday, May 9, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on eastbound deck of the George C. Platt Memorial Bridge.
    • Wednesday, May 8, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on eastbound Interstate-76 at the Girard Avenue Interchange.
    • Wednesday, May 8, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, a left lane closure is scheduled on westbound I-76 at the Girard Avenue Interchange.
    • Friday, May 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on the westbound deck of the George C. Platt Memorial Bridge.
    • Monday, May 13, through Wednesday, May 15, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on eastbound I-676 between the I-76 and the I-95 interchanges.
    • Thursday, May 16, and Friday, May 17, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on westbound I-676 between the I-95 and I-76 interchanges.

    Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

    The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.

    Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
