Shapiro Administration Modernizes Schuylkill Haven Driver License Center

Modernization project includes new flooring, updated furniture, and additional photo system for improved customer service

Schuylkill Haven, PA – As part of the Shapiro Administration’s commitment to modernizing commonwealth facilities and improving customer service, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that the Schuylkill Haven Driver License Center will undergo extensive interior renovations including new flooring, updated furniture and the addition of an extra photo system to improve services. To complete these improvements, the facility, located at 972 East Main Street, will be closed from Monday, February 24, 2025, to Saturday, March 8, 2025.

“As part of the Shapiro Administration’s commitment to serving Pennsylvania residents, modernizing our facilities, and enhancing customer experience, we are making necessary upgrades to our Schuylkill Haven location,” said PennDOT Driver and Vehicle Services Deputy Secretary Kara Templeton. “We realize this may be a temporary inconvenience while we work to enhance our facility and services.  To minimize service impacts to our Schuylkill Haven area customers, we will offer expanded services at other nearby locations to ensure continued access to driver licensing services during the renovations. ”

PennDOT’s Schuylkill Haven employees will be temporarily reassigned to the Shamokin Driver License Center at 5 Anthra Plaza in Shamokin. During the renovation period, the Shamokin Driver License Center will increase its operations to four days a week – Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday – from 8:30 AM to 4:15 PM. Photo services will be available Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 AM to 4:15 PM.

Customers who have a scheduled driving exam at the Schuylkill Haven location during the closure will be contacted and offered the same exam date and time at the Shamokin Driver License Center.
