PennDOT/BPD-I Set to Announce Upcoming Traffic Switch and Ramp Closure

Motorists are advised that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) in coordination with Bridging Pennsylvania Developers I (BPD-I) will implement a traffic switch to Stage 2 and close Ramp B as part of the ongoing I-80 Lehigh River Bridge Project.

 

The contractor will implement a new traffic pattern on Interstate 80 westbound as early as March 26, 2026, at 9:00 PM, weather permitting. At the same time, the I-80 westbound Ramp B off-ramp to Route 940 will be closed.

 

There will be separate Ramp B detour routes for passenger vehicles and trucks.

 

Ramp B Passenger Vehicle Detour:

• Take Exit 274

• Follow SR 534

• Follow State Street (SR 940)

• Use Church Street to return to I-80 at Exit 273

 

Ramp B Truck Detour:

• To north via PA 309 – 20 miles total (8.2 additional miles)

• To south via PA 940 – 15.3 miles total (7.7 additional miles)

 

Drivers should remain alert for changing traffic patterns, follow all posted signage, and allow extra travel time when traveling through the area.

 

This project is part of the ongoing PennDOT Major Bridges P3 ProgramBridging Pennsylvania Developers – I (BPD-I) is led jointly by Shikun & Binui Ltd and Macquarie Capital as Lead Project Developers and Equity Members. The Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors (BPC) joint venture (JV) consortium includes the design & construction expertise of S&B USA Construction (Pittsburgh, PA) and FCC Construction. S&B USA Construction is the construction arm of Shikun & Binui Ltd and is also the parent company of Fay, S&B USA Construction (Pittsburgh, PA), one of the four BPC Major Bridge subcontractors. Other Major Bridge subcontractors include the H&K Group (Skippack, PA), Kokosing Construction Company (Westerville, OH), Wagman Heavy Civil (York, PA), and Lead Designer, Michael Baker International (Pittsburgh, PA).
