Multi-County Microsurfacing Project Begins Next Week in North Central PA

Montoursville, PA – A multi-county microsurfacing project will begin next week on several routes in Athens, North Towanda, and Ulster townships in Bradford County,  Clinton and Brady townships in Lycoming, and Lawrence, Richmond, and Tioga townships in Tioga County, and Union counties.

Starting on Monday, May 4, the contractor, Suit-Kote Corporation, will begin removing line paint in preparation to apply microsurface on Route 6 between Copper Road (T-499) and Hollow Road (T-491) in Richmond Township, Tioga County. Drivers can expect single lane conditions with flagging between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, weather permitting.

Additional routes included in this multi-county microsurfacing project are listed below by county. A press release will be issued closer to the start date of the below listed locations. 

Bradford County

  • Route 220 between Walcott Hollow Road (Route 4018) and Tomahawk Road (T-593) in North Towanda and Athens townships.
    • Work will take place on this route Sundays through Fridays between the hours of 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
  • Bridge Street (Route 1022) between Route 220 and the Susquehanna River Bridge in Ulster Township.
    • Work will take place on this route Sundays through Fridays between the hours of 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

Lycoming County

  • Route 15 between Route 54 and Union/Lycoming County line in Clinton Township and Brady townships.
    • Work will take place on this route Sundays through Fridays between the hours of 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

Tioga County:

  • Route 6 between Copper Road (T-499) and Hollow Road (T-491) in Richmond Township.
    • Work will take place on this route Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
  • Route 287 between Woodford Road and Route 15 in Tioga Township & Lawrence Township.
    • Work will take place on this route Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Suite-Kote Corporation is the prime contractor for this $2.7 million microsurfacing contract. Work on the project includes removal of the line paint, application of a double microsurfacing material, installation of rumble strips, and miscellaneous construction. Work on the project is anticipated to be completed in October 2026, weather permitting.
