Bridge Replacement Project to Begin Next Week on Route 973 in Watson Township, Lycoming County

Montoursville, PA – A bridge replacement project is set to begin next week on Route 973 in Watson Township, Lycoming County. The bridge, which will span North Fork Tombs Run, is located two miles east of the intersection of Route 44.

Beginning Monday, June 15, Route 973 will be closed between Route 44 and Route 287, while the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) bridge crew begins the project. Work for this project includes removal of the existing pipes, installation of a new box culvert, approach work, paving, and line painting.

A detour will be in place using Routes 44, 287 and 220. Local residents will maintain access to their homes. This project is anticipated to be completed by September 30, 2026.

Drivers should be alert, slow down, and expect delays in travel.
