Bridge Replacement Project to Begin Next Week on Blockhouse Road in Jackson Township, Lycoming County

Montoursville, PA – A bridge replacement project is set to begin next week on Blockhouse Road (Route 1009) in Jackson Township, Lycoming County. The bridge, which spans an unnamed tributary to Blockhouse Creek, is located over a half mile north of the intersection with Laurel Hill Road (Route T-822).

Starting on Monday, March 23, Blockhouse Road will be closed between Laurel Hill Road and Brick Church Road (Route 1010), while a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) bridge crew begins work on the bridge replacement. Work includes removal of the existing structure, installation of a new box culvert, approach work, paving, guide rail, and line painting.

The following detours will be in place.

  • Northbound traffic will use Route 15 north, Exit 165 (Sebring), Bloss Mountain Road (Route 2005), and Blockhouse Road.
  • Southbound traffic will use Route 15 south, Exit 158 (Route 284/Buttonwood/English Center), and Blockhouse Road.

The detour will be in place for three months while crews construct the new structure. Work on the project is anticipated to be completed in the summer 2026.
