Route 235 Bridge Replacement, Detour Begins in Juniata County Next Week

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that a bridge replacement project will begin on Route 235 in Greenwood Township, Juniata County the week of May 26. This will improve the safety and ride quality of the structure.

On Tuesday, the contractor will start work to remove the existing bridge spanning Stony Run at the intersection of Route 2017 (Evendale Hill Road) in Greenwood Township. PennDOT will implement an approximately nine-mile detour around the project using Evendale Hill Road, Route 2012 (Leister Valley Road), Route 2013 (Cocolaums Road), Route 2015 (Swailes Road/Ehrenzeller Road), and Route 2017 (Dimmsville Road). The detour will remain in place for the duration of the project.

Overall work includes replacement of the single-span bridge with a new structure, paving, guide rail upgrades, pavement markings, and miscellaneous construction. George S. Hann and Son, Inc. of Fort Littleton, PA is the contractor on this $1.3 million project. PennDOT expects work to be completed this fall.
