Work is part of the West Newton Bridge Rehabilitation Project.
Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing single-lane restrictions are occurring on Route 136 between Vernon Drive and 4Th Street in West Newton Borough, Westmoreland County.
Restrictions:
- Daily single-lane restrictions from 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
- Traffic controlled by flaggers.
- In effect through Friday, July 3.
- Work will resume Monday, July 13 and continue through the end of August.
Drivers should remain alert, obey flaggers, and use caution when traveling through the area. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
The utility work includes the relocation of water, gas, and overhead utility lines in advance of the West Newton Bridge Rehabilitation Project.
This project includes a complete deck replacement as well as replacement and/or repair work on the trusses, sidewalk supports, and substructure. The project will reconstruct and modernize the bridge to meet the safety and mobility needs of the growing region and restore this historic bridge to a state of good repair.
