Route 4038 Layton Road Bridge Closure Scheduled Next Week in Fayette County

Work is part of the Layton Bridge Replacement Project

Uniontown, PA—Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing the closure of the Layton Bridge, which carries Route 4038 (Layton Road) over the Youghiogheny River, in Perry Township, Fayette County will begin on Tuesday, August 18 at 6:00 AM until Friday, August 21 at 6:00 PM.

Local access to Falbo Road will be maintained from the Perryopolis side of the closure.

All other traffic will follow the posted detour:

  • Route 4038 (Independence Street) 
  • Route 4017 (Liberty Street/Cemetery Road) 
  • Route 201 (Flatwoods Road/Main Street) 
  • Route 1010 (Dickerson Run Road/Front Street) 
  • Route 819 (Dawson Road/Main Street/Second Street) 
  • Route 1041 (River Road/School Road) 
  • Route 1002 (Banning Road) 
  • Route 4038 (Layton Road) 

In addition, The Allegheny Trail will close daily from 6:00 AM until 6:00 PM.

During the closure, crews from Joseph B. Fay Co. will set the beams on the new Washington Run Bridge and address instability of the rock face outcrop.

All work depends on weather and operations.

Drivers should exercise caution while traveling through work zones and be alert for workers. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

The project involves replacing the 17-span Layton Bridge over the Youghiogheny River and includes additional bridge, roadway, and safety improvements along Layton Road (Route 4038) between Route 51 and the town of Layton.
