Interstate 70 Traffic Impacts Scheduled Wednesday and Thursday in Westmoreland County

Due to the Arnold City Interchange Project

Uniontown, PA—Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing traffic impacts on Interstate 70 between Exit 43 (Route 201 Fayette City) and Exit 46 (Route 51/I-70 Interchange) in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, weather permitting.

Traffic impacts:

Daytime single-lane restrictions in both directions of I-70:

  • Wednesday, July 22 from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM
  • Thursday, July 23 from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM

During the daytime single-lane restrictions, crews will remove the temporary bridge deck formwork from the new Crawford Lane Bridge.

Drivers are asked to exercise caution driving through the work zone. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

This work is part of the I-70 at Arnold City Interchange project, which connects Route 3011 (Finley Road/Indian Hill Road) and Daugherty Lane to I-70. The project aims to enhance safety and traffic operations at the interchange and along the interstate. The project area is approximately 1.75 miles long, extending from the I-70 bridge over the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad to 1.37 miles east of the Arnold City Interchange. Golden Triangle Construction Company, Inc., is the prime contractor.

The $89 million infrastructure investment will include widening the median from four (4) feet to 10 feet and the outside shoulders from 10 to 12 feet. The reconstructed interchange will utilize a diamond configuration with a five-leg roundabout connecting the eastbound ramps with Indian Hill Road and Finley Road. The westbound ramps will be rebuilt as standard diamond ramps with a non-signalized intersection. The roadway will be shifted approximately four (4) feet to the north to accommodate the widening.
