Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing single-lane restrictions on Interstate 70 in Rostraver and South Huntingdon townships, Westmoreland County will begin tonight, Monday, June 9. All work depends on weather and operations.
Single-lane restrictions will occur to allow crews to remove overhang jacks from the overhead structure carrying Route 51 over I-70 according to the following schedule:
Monday, June 9 to Friday, June 13
- 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. each night
- I-70 eastbound
- Between Exit 44 (Arnold City) and Exits 46 A/B (Route 51)
- I-70 westbound
- Between Exit 49 (Smithton) Exits 46 A/B (Route 51)
8 p.m. Friday, June 13 to 6 a.m. Saturday, June 14 will be used as a weather make-up day, if needed.
This work is part of the $120.6 million I-70 at Route 51 Interchange Project, which will reconstruct I-70 at Exit 46 to make the section similar to other reconstructed sections to the east and west. A Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) will replace the current substandard cloverleaf Route 51 interchange.
