    Tarentum Borough Pavement Marking Installation Work Begins Tonight, Monday, in Tarentum Borough

    Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing pavement marking work on various roads in Tarentum Borough, Allegheny County will begin tonight, Monday, September 21 weather permitting.

    To accommodate pavement marking installation work, there will be short-term traffic stoppages and lane restrictions between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM weeknights through Friday, September 25 on the following roads:

    • At the intersection of East 10th Avenue and Coal Alley
    • At the intersection of Lock Street and School Alley
    • At the intersection of East 9th Avenue and Route 366 (Ross Street)
    • At the intersection of East 9th Avenue and Lock Street

    Crews from PLP Company will conduct the work.

    Please use caution if traveling on this roadway. Work zone safety is everyone’s responsibility.

    The Liberty Tunnel Portal roof will be replaced in 2026 on this $3.47 million project in the City of Pittsburgh. Overnight closures and detours of the Liberty Tunnel will occur during the project, however, the closures will not occur in both directions simultaneously. The overall project, which includes drainage improvements and other miscellaneous construction activities, is expected to be complete in the spring of 2027.
