Route 28 Inspection Activities Saturday, Sunday in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing bridge inspection activities requiring lane restrictions on Route 28 in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County will occur Saturday and Sunday, June 13-14 weather permitting.  

There will be single-lane restrictions on Route 28 in both directions from 6:00 AM to noon each day according to the following schedule:

Saturday, June 13

  • Southbound Route 28 between the I-279 North/East Ohio Street (Exit 1B) and south I-579/I-279, I-376/Veterans Bridge/Ft Pitt Bridge (Exit 1A) interchanges.

Sunday, June 14

  • Northbound Route 28 between the off-ramp to north I-279/East Ohio Street and the on-ramp from East Ohio Street.

Crews from HDR, Inc. and the Sofis Rigging Company will conduct inspection activities of the structure carrying Chestnut Street over Route 28. All ramps will remain open.
