The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is looking to fill open positions for summer student interns and temporary highway maintenance workers in Forest and Warren counties.
Temporary highway maintenance workers perform manual labor duties on highway maintenance projects, such as crack sealing, ditch cleaning, and loading materials. They can also assist permanent sign crews with tasks such as installing and maintaining roadway signs and makers. This is an integral position within the department, as the upkeep of roadway infrastructure plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity and safety of our communities. This position is open to applicants age 18 and older.
Summer student interns support the county maintenance activities and assist with work zone traffic control setups during routine maintenance and repair operations. Other duties can include data entry, helping in the garage, and custodial services at roadside rest facilities.
Applicants for the student positions must have graduated from high school, be 18 or older and enrolled or intend to be enrolled in a two- or four-year post-secondary education program. They must also be in good academic standing, which is defined as a grade point average of 2.0 or above.
Candidates for both positions must have a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License. Work hours and compensation vary based on position and travel may be required. Applicants may apply for more than one position and for work in more than one county and are not required to reside in Warren or Forest counties
Applicants can see all current available positions by going online to www.employment.pa.gov and can send questions to statejobs@pa.gov.
