Paving Project to Start Soon on Interstate 90 in McKean and Summit Townships, Erie County

A $18.4 million resurfacing project that will give drivers a smoother ride on more than 5 miles of Interstate 90 in McKean and Summit townships, Erie County is scheduled to start next month

The project will include milling, paving and concrete patching of 5.2 miles of Interstate 90 from mile marker 18 near the Route 832 (Sterrettania/Presque Isle State Park) exit in McKean Township to mile marker 23 just before the Route 19 (Waterford/Peach Street) exit in Summit Township.

Drivers should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and lane restrictions during nighttime hours beginning at 8:00 PM and ending by 6:00 AM the following morning from Sundays to Fridays. No lane restrictions are anticipated from 6:00 AM Fridays through 8:00 PM Sundays. Drivers should anticipate travel delays during active work hours.

Work will also include guide rail updates, roadway paint and markers, and signs. During these operations, drivers may encounter short-term lane and shoulder restrictions.

Construction is expected to begin April 6, 2026, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by November 2026.

The contractor is Lindy Paving of New Galilee, PA. The contract cost is $18,396,593.25, which is to be paid entirely with federal funds.
