Patching Operations Planned for Interstate 79 Southbound Bridge in the City of Erie

Drivers should be alert for roadwork on the southbound lanes of Interstate 79 between Exit 183 (Route 5, 12th Street) and Exit 182 (Route 20, 26th Street) in the City of Erie later this week.

Employees from the PennDOT facility in Erie County will be patching potholes and sealing cracks on the bridge May 20 and 21, 2026, weather permitting.

Drivers should anticipate lane restrictions and slowed traffic with during active work hours.  

PennDOT urges drivers to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
