Fill Dirt Available from PennDOT Maintenance Work in the Northwest Region

Spring road maintenance season will be under way soon and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) District 1 maintenance offices expect waste fill dirt will be available as crews tackle activities such as ditching, shoulder cutting, pipe replacement, and other operations.

Fill dirt left over from PennDOT maintenance operations is available to property owners who request the material, and whose property is accessible and located near work areas. Some restrictions apply to where materials can be placed.

Property owners must sign a release form (Form M-666) and return it to the main PennDOT office in their county. In the northwest region, the county offices include the following:

  • Crawford County – 18492 Smock Highway, Meadville, PA, 16335; 814-332-6880
  • Erie County – 9031 Peach Street, Waterford, PA, 16441; 814-871-4411
  • Forest County – 645 Elm Street, Tionesta, PA 16353; 814-755-3580
  • Mercer County – 215 North Maple Street, Mercer, PA, 16127; 724-662-5350
  • Venango County – 1460 Pittsburgh Road, Franklin PA, 16323; 814-432-3115
  • Warren County – 20745 Route 6, Warren, PA, 16365; 814-723-3500

The form must be signed before any fill dirt is delivered. Forms expire at the end of each year and new ones must be signed annually.
