A $1 million project to replace portions of the bridge that carries River Road over Coleman Run Creek in Barnett Township, Forest County is scheduled to start June 22, 2026.
The bridge is located on River Road (Route 2002) between the intersection with the Coleman Road and the intersection with Greenwood Road.
The River Road Bridge Project includes replacing the existing steel bridge beams, concrete deck and barriers, and guiderail. Work will also include minimal paving on each side of the bridge.
One side of the bridge will remain open with traffic controlled through the use of temporary signals.
Construction is expected to begin June 22, 2026, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed in October 2026.
The existing 22-foot bridge was built in 1962. It is classified as being in poor condition and is posted with a 19-ton weight limit. Approximately 100 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.
The contractor is Thomas Construction of Grove City, PA. The contract cost is $1,057,742.42, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.
