Contractor to place permanent patch on repaired sinkhole
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a lane restriction is planned for the weekend of May 16-19 on westbound Route 30 in West Manchester Township, York County, so a contractor can place a permanent concrete patch on a sinkhole that was repaired last year.
The sinkhole, which was located along the right shoulder of westbound Route 30 just east of the off-ramp to Route 74 (Carlisle Street), was repaired last November.
Weather permitting, the right lane and shoulder of westbound Route 30 will be closed from 8:00 PM Friday, May 16, to 6:00 AM Monday, May 19, from Kenneth Road to Route 74. The left lane will remain open with a 12-foot width restriction. This could cause delays.
This work is part of a project that includes concrete patching, concrete paving, diamond grinding, asphalt milling, base repair, asphalt overlay, guiderail updates, ADA ramps, signs, pavement markings, and other miscellaneous construction on Route 30 from Route 74 in West Manchester Township to Interstate 83 in Manchester Township.
The project also includes base repairs, milling and overlay on Roosevelt Avenue (Route 4001) from Marbrook Lane in the City of York and Manchester Township to just north of Greenbriar Road (Route 4011) in West Manchester Township.
Work will be performed nightly from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM with single lane closures. Flagging will be performed as needed at intersections within the project limits.
Travelers should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.
JVI Group, Inc., of York Springs is the contractor on this $ 8,739,391 project. All work is expected to be completed by November 7, 2025.
