Minor Delays Expected on Route 219 from Carrolltown to Northern Cambria, Cambria County, Beginning March 17

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advising motorists to expect delays beginning Monday, March 17, 2025, on Route 219 between Carrolltown and Northern Cambria Borough, Cambria County.

Contractors will conduct work under daylight flagging, with the potential for traffic delays not to exceed 15 minutes. The work is weather dependent.

As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.

Quaker Sales, Inc., Johnstown, PA, is the contractor for the $5,199,141.47 project, slated for completion in the 2025 construction season, which includes resurfacing, base repairs, guide rail and drainage upgrades, traffic signal replacements, and geometric curve improvements on Route 219 from Sunset Road in Carrolltown Borough to Nixon Avenue in Northern Cambria.

Between mid-April to mid-August, motorists can expect delays near Ditter’s Curve on Route 219 in Northern Cambria Borough. The area will be under phased traffic control while geometric curve improvements are being performed. Geometric curve improvements enhance safety and traffic flow by addressing issues like sight distance, curve sharpness, and superelevation, often involving flattening curves, widening lanes, and adding transitions.
