Cooney Road Bridge Project

U.S 22 Westbound Lane Closed Overnight Monday and Tuesday Morning, and Eastbound Lane Closed Overnight Wednesday and Thursday Morning with Detour for Route 2101 (Cooney Road) Bridge Project in Munster Township, Cambria County

Detour will use Route 53, Route 164 and Route 2014 Admiral Peary Highway

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is informing motorists that U.S. 22 westbound will be closed from 8:00 PM Monday, May 12, to 5:00 AM Tuesday, May 13, and eastbound will be closed from 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 14, to 5:00 AM Thursday, May 15, between the Route 53-Cresson/Lilly interchange and the Route 164-Portage/Munster interchange.  

For both closures, an approximately 5-mile detour will use Route 53, Route 164, and Route 2014 (Admiral Peary Highway) to channel traffic to and from U.S. 22.

The closures and detour will allow for beam removal as part of the Route 2101 (Cooney Road) Bridge Project in Munster Township, Cambria County.

Plum Contracting, Inc., Pittsburgh, Pa., is the contractor for the $2,888,700.19 project. The project has an anticipated completion date of October 2025.

As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.
