Weeklong Detour of Route 36 (18th Street) in Logan Township, Blair County, Begins June 11

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is informing motorists of a weeklong 24.5-mile detour of Route 36 (18th Street) for work at the intersection of Washington Avenue in Logan Township, Blair County, beginning Wednesday, June 11.

From 6:00 AM Monday, June 9 to 6:00 AM Wednesday, June 11, work to install a 60-inch pipe on Route 36 (18th Street) near the Washington Avenue intersection will get started under standard daylight and overnight flagging operations with minimal delays to the public.

At 6:00 AM Wednesday, June 11, until Wednesday, June 18, a detour will reroute traffic on Route 36 using Route 53 (Gallitzin Road) in Ashville, Cambria County, U.S. 22 (William Penn Highway), Interstate 99 and the Frankstown Road exchange with Interstate 99. 

The work is part of the Mill Run Bridge project, slated to be completed during the 2025 construction season. Cottle’s Asphalt Maintenance, Inc., of Everett, PA, is the contractor for the $7,434,773.35 project.

As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.   

Additionally, PennDOT reminds motorists that as of June 5, 2025, the "Paul Miller's Law" is in effect. This law prohibits the use of hand-held devices while driving, even while stopped temporarily due to traffic, a red light, or other momentary delay. Violation of this law is punishable by way of summary citations issued by any Pennsylvania Law Enforcement officer. We strongly urge motorists to make safe choices, put phones out of reach and don’t text and drive.
