PennDOT Summer Employment Job Fair Tuesday, June 11, in Lancaster County

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a summer employment job fair will be held Tuesday, June 11, for the following summer positions the department offers in Lancaster County. 

Government Service Intern ($16.67/hr.)
This position is for high school graduates or current college students enrolled full time for the fall semester to work on our roadway maintenance crews.

Highway Maintenance Worker ($16.67/hr.) 
This position involves working on a highway maintenance crew. No previous experience is required, but applicants must have the ability to lift or move heavy objects. 

PennDOT CDL Operator Trainee ($20.35/hr.) 
This is a comprehensive six-month trainee position that involves operating construction and maintenance equipment on highways.

PennDOT CDL Operator ($22.05/hr.)       
This role plows snow and works on construction sites, performing manual labor, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance on equipment.

The event will be held from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 11, at the PennDOT Lancaster County Maintenance Office, 2105 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster PA, 17602. For more information, please call 717-299-7621.
Staff will be available to discuss current and future openings within the commonwealth for CDL operators, who must have a valid Pennsylvania (PA) CDL Class A or B with air brake restriction removed, and diesel equipment mechanics, who must have a valid CDL and a PA Class 7 inspector mechanic certification. Both positions also require a current medical examiner certificate.
On-the-spot applications, interviews, and driving skills testing will take place. Applicants need to bring their current CDL license and medical examiners card.

Laptops and staff will be available to help interested participants navigate the electronic application system. Human Resources staff will be on-hand to discuss benefit options and opportunities for permanent employment. There may be on-the-spot interviews and conditional job offers for select positions, so applicants should bring two forms of identification.
