Bridge Replacement Project to Begin Next Week on Tourist Park Road in Northern Dauphin County

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a bridge replacement project is set to begin next week on Tourist Park Road (Route 4006) in Halifax Township in northern Dauphin County. The bridge spans Gurdy Run less than a half mile east of the intersection with Route 147.

Weather permitting, the contractor will begin work on Wednesday, July 5. The bridge will be closed. A detour will be in place using Route 147 and Route 225.

This project consists of a structure replacement with a precast reinforced concrete box culvert, approach work, guide rail, pavement markings, signing, and other miscellaneous construction.

Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc., of State College, PA, is the contractor on this $718,718 project. 

Work is expected to be completed by August 22, 2023.

Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to slow down when approaching and traveling through work zones for their safety as well as for the safety of the road crews.
