King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a SEPTA red bus-only lane will be painted on West Market Street starting next week under a project to repair and resurface 44 miles of state highways in Philadelphia.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Wednesday, July 12, through early August, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, periodic lane closures are scheduled in both directions on West Market Street between 15th Street and 30th Street.
PennDOT, the City of Philadelphia, and SEPTA are working together and sharing costs to paint red bus-only lanes to improve bus reliability and road safety. In 2022, PennDOT's contractor painted the first red bus-only lane on Chestnut Street between Broad Street (Route 611) and 2nd Street. Recently, a red bus-only lane was painted on East Market Street between Juniper Street and 4th Street.
