PennDOT Closes Route 239 in Luzerne County

Dunmore, PA – Route 239 will be closed between Route 4035 (Register Road) and Old Route 4011 (Tioga Turnpike) in Huntington Township, Luzerne County, from Monday, June 2 through July 2025, while PennDOT crews perform bridge and roadway work. The detour goes as follows: 

Car detour traveling north from Route 239:

·       Turn right onto Route 4035 (Register Road). 

·       Stay left onto Route 4018 (Bonneville Road). 

·       Stay Straight through the intersection of Route 239. 

 

Car detour traveling south from Route 239:

·        Start on Route 4018 (Bonneville Road), heading south. 

·       At the intersection with Route 4035 (Register Road), turn left onto Route 4035 (Register Road). 

·       Continue on Route 4035 (Register Road) to Route 239. 

 

Truck detour traveling north from Route 239:

·       Turn right onto Route 4016 (Hunlock Road). 

·       Stay straight to Route 4015 (Bethel Road). 

·       Make a left onto Route 4018 (Bonnieville Road). 

·       Follow until the split and make a right onto Route 4020 (Volanski Road). 

·       Make a left onto Route 4011 (Old Tioga Turnpike). 

·       Make a right at the intersection of Route 4018 ( Bonnieville Road) and follow into the intersection of Route 239. 

 

Truck detour traveling South from Route 239:

·       Start at the intersection of Route 239 and Route 4018 (Bonnieville Road). 

·       Turn left onto Route 4018 (Bonnieville Road). 

·       At the intersection with Route 4011 (Old Tioga Turnpike), turn right. 

·       Continue on Route 4011 until you reach Route 4020 (Volanski Road); turn left. 

·       Follow Route 4020 to the split, then turn left onto Route 4018 (Bonnieville Road). 

·       Continue on Route 4018 until it intersects with Route 4015 (Bethel Road); turn right at the intersection. 

·       Proceed straight onto Route 4016 (Hunlock Road).

When encountering a work zone, please drive the posted speed limit, turn on your headlights, pay close attention to signs and flaggers, and avoid all distractions. In high-traffic locations, motorists are encouraged to use both lanes of travel to the merge point and take turns merging into the open lane.
