Jimmy Adams is PennDOT Employee of the Quarter

Montoursville, PA – Jimmy Adams is the PennDOT District 3 District Office Employee of the Quarter for the first quarter, 2025.

Jimmy serves as the District Equipment Manager.  His main duties include managing the district’s fleet of over 2,100 pieces of equipment and coordinating the radio communication system, operator training, and equipment sharing efforts.

In 2023, Jimmy was instrumental in setting up and equipping two training sites in District 3 in Centralia, Columbia County in the southern region and Covington, Tioga County in the northern region. This allows trainings to occur more quickly and at a lower cost to the department as equipment operators no longer need to travel outside the district for training.

Jimmy also played a large role along with his team of County Equipment Managers in getting county maintenance organizations on board with a new “Fuel Utilization” program which helps determine how much each district receves for their equipment budget. This new system is based on the amount of fuel that is purchased and used for each piece of equipment.  It requires monitoring all equipment on a regula basis and ensures that all equipment is utilized.  Fuel Utilization has increased District 3's equipment share of the budget by approximately 3% for all centrally funded equipment.

A dump truck frame coating initiative was implemented and monitored by Jimmy. The coating protects the frames from the effects of salt which helps to prolong the life of the dump trucks.

Jimmy was successful in completing District 3's fleet model which provides a summary of the districts efforts to maintain its fleet for PennDOT’s Central Office and Executive Management.

Jimmy is highly thought of in the Fleet Management Division as a leader among District Equipment Managers.  He is a part of Fleet Optimization and Mech-Tech committees.  These are statewide committees that help shape consistent policy and procedures for equipment and training.

Jimmy is a ten–year District 3 employee. He lives outside of Herndon with his wife and daughter. In his spare time, Jimmy enjoys hunting, fishing, and working in his garage.

Congratulations to Jimmy Adams, the PennDOT District 3 Employee of the Quarter.
