Roadway Project Scheduled to Begin on Route 125 in Coal Township, Northumberland County

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a roadway project scheduled to start soon will close a portion of Route 125 in Coal Township, Northumberland County.

Between Monday, June 9, 2025, and Sunday, June 22, 2025, Route 125 will be closed between Point Breeze Road (Route 3004) and Bear Valley Road, while the contractor installs a culvert under Route 125. Work on the project includes installation of the culvert, paving, and line painting.

A detour using Upper Road (Route 2044), Route 890, Route 225 and Route 61 will be in place for the duration of the project. Motorists can access the Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area (AOAA) from the north using Route 125.

The AOAA has coordinated with local municipalities, law enforcement, and emergency medical services to ensure that all emergency response agencies are fully aware of the planned closure and timeframes involved.

H&K Group is the primary contractor for this $790,000 culvert installation project. Work on the project includes tree removal, culvert installation, roadway reconstruction, paving, and line painting.
