Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a multi-year reconstruction and resurfacing project continues next week on Interstate 80 in Columbia County. All work will be performed between 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
On Sunday, June 1, 2025, the contractor will be working on the exit ramps at the Interstate 80 / Route 42 interchange (Exit 232 / Buckhorn). Motorists can expect the following short-term closures while rumble strips are installed on the ramps:
- Interstate 80 east exit ramp to Route 42 will be closed. o A detour using Interstate 80 east, Exit 236 (Route 487/Bloomsburg), and Interstate 80 west to Exit 232 (Route 42 / Buckhorn) will be in place.
- Interstate 80 west exit ramp to Route 42 will be closed. o A detour using Exit 236 (Route 487/Bloomsburg), Route 487 south (Lightstreet Road), Route 11 south (Main Street) in the Town of Bloomsburg, Route 42 north to Interstate 80 west will be in place.
On Monday, June 2, 2025, the contractor will complete preservation work on the bridge near eastbound mile marker 232 with expansion dam replacement. An alternating lane closure will be in place during this work.
On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the contractor will continue work repairing concrete on structures over the highway and perform final line painting between mile markers 228 and 233. This work is expected to take two nights to complete. An alternating lane closure will be in place during this work.
School House Road (Route 4006)
On Monday, June 2, 2025, School House Road will be closed between Buckhorn Road and Frosty Valley Road (Route 4003), while the contractor completes preservation work with expansion dam work on the bridge over Interstate 80.
Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, watch for stopped or slow-moving vehicle, watch for lane changes, and drive with caution through the work zone.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc. is the prime contractor for this $11.1 million reconstruction and resurfacing project. Work includes shoulder reconstruction, roadway resurfacing, structure preservation, signing, and other miscellaneous work. Work on this project is anticipated to be completed in June of 2025.
