Reconstruction Project Continues on Interstate 80 in Montour and Northumberland Counties

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a multi-year construction project continues on Interstate 80 eastbound and westbound between Danville, Montour County and Limestoneville, Northumberland County.

The week of Monday, April 14, 2025

The contractor will begin work on the bridges carrying Interstate 80 over Narehood Road (Route 3003), which is located approximately 3 miles east of Exit 215 (Limestoneville / Route 254) in Liberty Township and Klondike Road (Route 3007), approximately 2 miles west of Exit 224 (Danville / Route 54) in Valley Township.  

Narehood Road

  • Construction will begin on the temporary bridges that will carry Interstate 80 over Narehood Road.
  • Traffic will be shifted to the temporary structure, when completed, while the existing structures are replaced.
  • Traffic should be alert for changing traffic patterns.

Klondike Road

  • Rehabilitation of the bridge that carries Interstate 80 eastbound over Klondike Road will begin.
  • Klondike Road will be closed between Oak Grove Road and Route 642 (Liberty Valley Road).
  • A detour using Oak Grove Road, Mauger Road, Stump Road (Route 3006), Liberty Valley Road (Route 642) will be in place while the bridge is being rehabilitated.

Work continues on the installation of the new highway lighting and signage between mile markers 219 and 221, which is located just west of Exit 224 (Danville / Route 54).

Work will be performed during daylight hours, weather permitting. Motorists should alert, slow down, watch for changing traffic patterns, lane shifts, and drive with caution through the work zone.

Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. is the prime contractor for this $53,138,380 project. Work includes roadway reconstruction, resurfacing, structure replacement, rehabilitation, preservation, lighting, and other miscellaneous work. This multi-year project is expected to be completed in 2027.
