Maintenance Project This Weekend on Route 61 and I-80 in Northumberland and Union Counties

Montoursville – Motorists in Northumberland and Union counties are advised a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) contractor will be working along Route 61 and Interstate 80 this weekend.

On Saturday, May 3, 2025 and Sunday, May 4, 2025, the contractor, Chase Enterprises, will be applying herbicide along roadways in the following locations:

Northumberland County

  • Interstate 80 in Turbot Township
  • Interstate 80 in East Chillisquaque Township
  • Route 61 in Upper Augusta Township
  • Route 61 in Rockefeller Township
  • Route 61 in Shamokin Borough
  • Route 61 in Ralpho Township
  • Route 61 in Coal Township
  • Route 61 in Mt. Carmel Township

Union County

  • Interstate 80 in Lewis Township
  • Interstate 80 in White Deer Township
  • Interstate 80 in West Buffalo Township

Motorists watch for single lane conditions with flagging or shoulder closures where work is being performed. Work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, weather permitting. 

Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, and drive with caution.
