PennDOT's Washington County Maintenance Update -- Week of April 15, 2024

Uniontown, PA – Washington County Maintenance Manager Susan Howard announced the following tentative work plan for the week of April 15, 2024. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations. 

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility. 

Brushing:

  • Route 40 (National Pike) in Buffalo, Canton and Donegal townships, Claysville Borough, and City of Washington. 

Crack seal paving:

  • Route 18 (Jefferson Avenue) in Chartiers, Hanover, Mount Pleasant and Smith townships, Burgettstown Borough, and City of Washington. 

Inlet cleaning/repair:

  • Route 18 (Prosperity Pike) in Morris Township.
  • Route 221 (South Bridge Road) in Blaine, Buffalo, Morris, and South Franklin townships.
  • Route 231 (East Finley Drive) in East Finley Township. 

Mowing:

  • Route 221 (Chestnut Street Extension) in Buffalo Township.
  • Interstate 70 Ramps 8014 (Jefferson Avenue) and Ramp 8025 (Donora).
  • Route 22 ramp 8046 in Hanover Township.
  • Route 519 Park and Ride ramp 9501 in North Strabane Township. 

Patching:

  • Route 50 (Avella Road) in Cross Creek and Mount Pleasant townships.
  • Route 331 (Brush Run Road) in Hopewell and Independence townships.
  • Route 844 (Washington Pike) in Canton and Hopewell townships.
  • Route 980 (Lincoln Avenue) in Robinson Township.
  • Route 4012 (Center Street) in Cecil, Mount Pleasant, and Smith townships and McDonald Borough.
  • Route 4016 (Cherry Valley Road) in Mount Pleasant Township.
  • Route 4017 (Atlas Cherry Valley Road) in Smith Township.
  • Route 4021 (Ostop Road) in Smith Township.
  • Route 4037 (Fort Cherry Road) in Mount Pleasant and Robinson townships. 

Shoulder cutting:

  • Route 40 (Old National Pike) in Amwell, North Bethlehem, South Strabane, and West Pike townships, Centerville Borough, and City of Washington.
  • Route 221 (Dunn Station Road) in Morris Township.
  • Route 3008 (Jolly School Road) in South Franklin Township.
  • Route 3011 (Mounts Road) in Buffalo and Canton townships.
  • Route 4022 (Pleasant Valley Road) in Buffalo and Canton townships and City of Washington.
  • Route 4024 (Rural Valley Road) in Blaine, Buffalo, and Canton townships.
  • Route 4055 (Smiley Road) in Canton Township. 

Shoulder paving:

  • Route 3008 (Jolly School Road) in South Franklin Township. 

Slide repair:

  • Route 2020 (Ten Mile Road) in West Bethlehem Township.
    • ​Road closed between Route 2047 (Little Creek Road) in West Bethlehem and Route 2020 (Jefferson Avenue) in West Bethlehem.

 Pipe replacement:

  • Route 2007 (Hackney Station Road) in Amwell Township. 

Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit. 

Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the County. 

PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern.  This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways.  The number is 1-800-FIX ROAD (1-800-349-7623).  

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
